Gestation (months 1 to 8) : 1.4 to 2.1 kg (2 to 3 L) a day
Gestation (months 9 to 11) : 2.8 to 3.5 kg (4 to 5 L) a day
Lactation (months 1 to 3) : 4.2 to 5.6 kg (6 to 8 L) a day
From weaning up to breaking-in : 2.1 to 2.8 kg (3 to 4 L) a day
These recommendations are based on the requirements of horses with anticipated adult bodyweights of 500 kg, fed ad-lib quality hay with free access to a pure salt block and clean water.
The amount fed must be precisely adjusted according to:
- the horses workload,
- the horses stabling and climatic conditions,
- the quantity, quality, and type of forage fed daily.
It is recommended to divide the daily ration into three feeds.
Broodmares : Feed a maximum of 4 litres per feed.
Foals and youngstock : Feed a maximum of 2 litres per feed.
Respect the recommended quantities.
